How do I pay occupancy & hotel taxes in NYC for hosting on Airbnb?

3 views 1 answers
I'm renting out a bedroom in the apartment I live in with my family. Our rent is really high and by renting out a bedroom on Airbnb, it helps us pay the rent. My main concern is figuring out what I have to pay for doing this - I see that NYC has hotel & occupancy fees, but there isn't any other information on how I should pay them. Is there a form I fill out, do I make sure these taxes are paid monthly, quarterly, yearly, etc? Please help!

Not sure you are subject to hotel taxes as you are not using it as a hotel if you are renting a room legally per the NYC rules as they apply to AirBNB. I think this question is more suited for a CPA or a tax attorney to answer. Either repost it under tax law or contact a CPA.
