Do I need an attorney to fight my ex husband in trying to reduce his child support?

I don't have the money for a lawyer and I want to fight him in order for him not to reduce child support. He buys brand new BMW's and has a fancy apartment, etc but wants to reduce child support. How can I represent myself and do I have a chance?

If the Attorney General is involved they will protect your interests somewhat as a byproduct of their work to get him to pay child support in accordance with guidelines. If they are not involved, apply for child support services through the AG today If a hearing has already been set you may need to hire an attorney. You need to have him served with discovery, get his income tax returns and bank statements.

I do not suggest that you represent yourself. Please contact the Houston Bar Association or any one of the law suit for assistance.

The key will be discovering what his income is. A lawyer can subpoena this info or propound discovery.
