Does the police officer who arrested me talk with the prosecutor at my preliminary hearing?

Or do they just base the facts off the paperwork/police report? How does the court system work on the day of a preliminary hearing? Mine is at 2pm in January

Yes, the officer will speak with the prosecutor at the preliminary hearing and probably before as well.

Often, the prosecutor and police officer will speak to your attorney the day of the preliminary hearing to provide their version of what happened and to see if the case can be resolved. Most of the evidence comes from the police report but the officer often has some additional information like whether the defendant was polite etc.

I am curious, why would that be important to you? If you are planning on defending yourself against a criminal charge, you are making a huge miscalculation. Get your self a criminal defense attorney immediately.

You should be more concerned with your defense versus whether the police and Commonwealth communicate - which, yes, they tend to do regularly. It is also possible that the officer will testify at your preliminary hearing. It sounds like you were charged with a felony. If you have been appointed an attorney or retained one, you should address your concerns with him or her. If you have not, then you need to contact one as soon as possible - do not wait to attempt to retain one the day before your hearing. Use the Find a Lawyer tab at the top of the page to help you locate a Criminal Defense attorney in your area. Many offer free consultations, and some have payment plans available as well.
