How long does a case to go to trial after being arrested ?
Anonymous6 views3 answers
My son in law had me charged with unlawful use of a phone and I was arrested almost 2 years later. My trial has been postponed three times now. The first time the court changed it, the second time they couldn't reach my son in law and now it's been changed because my attorney has called for a jury trial. How much longer do I have to wait?
If your lawyer has only just requested a jury trial then the case will be placed on a trial docket sometime in the near future. You need to put these questions to your attorney because they are in a position to best answer this for you.
Can't accurately predict how long as each court handles their own trial calendar. Your attorney should be able to give you better information as they are most familiar with all the details of your case.
If you have an attorney, then you need to talk to him or her about it. He or she should be able to give you advice about the particulars of your case. Candidly, I think I can speak for most of the folks on here when I say that, even in this forum, it raises some alarm bells when represented folks start soliciting advice. So, in sum, just call your lawyer. I'm sure he or she would be happy to talk to you about what to expect.
