Can my attorney quit?

My daughter asked a couple questions, but allow me to ask more clearly. My husband &I filed bankruptcy 6 yrs ago. For all intense purposes, bankruptcy is final. One creditor sold loan 3 mos before bankruptcy was over. Court has $2k-plus in acct unclaimed by creditor. New lender has wrong info and refuses to correct w/ court and refuses to claim final payment. Our atty is paid. Asked atty to do something about this creditor and he quit. We want to sell our home and can't because of this. Isn't this still part of the bankruptcy? If so, can the atty just quit this case?

The amount you paid for a chapter 13 most likely did not cover the expense of additional work needed to resolve this claim dispute. Since no one today will work for free, I understand your attorney's desire to resign from your case. Hope this perspective helps.

Some attorneys include this service in their bankruptcy fees, which explains the disparity in fees charged. Evidently your attorney did not include post-bankruptcy services in his fee. If you need to file bankruptcy in the future, you should ask your attorney whether follow up services are included in his or her fee.
