Ref: Military Law (U.C.M.J.) Is there a source of legal assistance available in preparing the DD-149 for Discharge Upgrade?

Over many years now I have researched, obtained military records and prepared the case but need assistance in preparing (especially particular portions) of the DD-149. My separation from the Army has gone beyond 15 years which I understand requires the DD-149 for the presentation sent to the A.R.B.A.. I have discovered (and proof) fabricated military documents, multiplicity of charges and documents containing the signature of other than my own where my signature should appear. I am hoping to find a source of this assistance required as near to my home location as possible. I have had assistance for most of the investigative yrs. from the Department of Veterans Affairs in Chas., WV. I feel I am beyond their ability in assisting at this point due to the complexity of the evidence discovered.

The assistance available is to retain private counsel. I don't mean to be harsh but that is the reality.

You have the ability to retain private counsel to assist you in submitting matters to the Board. Your best chance is to hire experienced counsel to help perfect your case.

For cases beyond 15 years, you will have to petition the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR). Use the Find a Lawyer tab on this site to contact a lawyer near you who handles these types of cases. That said, for those of us that represent current and former military, geography is rarely an impediment to good representation. Also, some of what you write leads me to believe you may have been court-martialed. If that is the case, the type of court-martial and punishment you received can affect where you file your petition.
