How do I dispute an unclear handicap parking for the whole block?

2 views 4 answers
I attended the NJ Devils game this evening. I have been parking on Commerce Street for some time now and never got a ticket. I would never park in a handicap spot as my Mother is handicapped. There is an unclear sign on the block that does not point to any of the spots on the street that has a handicap symbol on it and does not stipulate that the half of the block is handicap parking. The sign in question actually points towards the building that is next to the block in question. I'd also like to point out that there is no markings on the street either. Do I have any legal recourse to dispute this ticket?

You have to go to court with proof of what you say. Ask the court to determine that it is not clear that the area is only for handicapped parking. The only true way is to have photo proof. You would do best to use a video tape so you can show the entire area.

I concur with the recommendations of my distinguished colleagues. You will need to provide proof to the Court to substantiate your contentions. You could retain counsel to dispute your ticket. Whether or not you will be successful, no one can say. But your chances of success would dramatically be increased with an attorney representing you. Good luck.
