I am reaching out because Friday 10/23/2015 my children’s father went to my aunt’s house and picked up my children without my permission. I did not authorize this visit. However I am trying my best to co-parent so I did not make a big deal about it. I called several times on Sunday night trying to see where I needed to pick the kids up and he did not answer. I finally got a hold of him on 10/26/2015. He stated he will not be giving the kids back to me. I tried to go to Garland Police station and calling 911. The Garland police officer who said it is a civil matter is half-right and half-wrong. It is civil and criminal, specifically interference with child custody is a felony, and specifically law enforcement is able to get involved in enforcing civil court orders. You can go to their school and get them. You can get private family law counsel and petition for enforcement by contempt or seek a writ of habeas corpus or attachment and he can be ordered to pay your fees and costs. You can use self-help to get them back from school or wherever you can take them. Consult with and attempt to retain private family law counsel.

You should retain counsel to advise and assist you. There are many attorneys in your area who have posted a profile here on and who would welcome the opportunity to assist you. However, you must reach out to them (contact info available on each attorney’s profile) as attorneys are not allowed to directly solicit your business. All the best!

Don't mess around. Hire a lawyer TODAY. This is not ok and an enforcement needs to be filed.
