I was sent an email saying I was a contest winner. Then I was sent a retraction that said it was sent in error. What can I do?

I entered a contest and then was told I won via email. I was sent a form to fill out and everything. About a half hour later I was sent a retraction saying that it was an error and I should disregard the message saying I won. I feel that this is unfair. Am I entitled to anything?

It is very unlikely that there is anything you can do. That said, every state has its own sweepstakes and contest laws. You could ask a lawyer for his opinion. He would need to look at the rules of the contest.

Yes! You won the right to put a fraud alert on your credit cards and reporting agencies. This reeks of SCAM.

Re: Scam If you really entered the contest and are sure they are the right people, then it may not be a scam ... But I agree with the prior post stating that it is likely a scam and you should take appropriate actions to protect credit, finances, etc. (protect anything they can get access to with the information you provided). Re: Anything else you can do I doubt it...

No case. The notice was not an offer to accept...it was merely a notice...and apparently an incorrect one. Sorry.
