I am a doctor practicing in Houston Texas and I am joining a new practice.

I am bringing my own patients to the new practice that I am joining. If I decide to go somewhere else later on, I want to be able to take my own patients with me wherever I decide to go. I need legal advise on how to do this. I want to know what legal medical rights I have and options I have before signing the contract/agreement with the practice I will be joining. I am practicing in Houston Texas. I will be joining the new practice/clinic as an independent contractor. Do I need to do non-compete clause or not? Any help and advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

This is a very specific inquiry requiring a relatively specialized analysis. Agreements between doctors are governed by some special rules. Use the "Find a Lawyer" feature to connect with an employment attorney in your area. Be prepared to pay for this service.
