I drove 87 in a 65mph zone, so I got a citation for V C Section 22349 Maximum Speed Limit. Can I attend traffic school?

I had a chemistry quiz and needed to pick up a friend from Elk Grove, CA, so I was speeding because I didn't know if I would be back to class on time. Is there any way I can attend traffic school to avoid getting a point?

Assuming you have not attended traffic school in the past 18 months you may be eligible. Check with the traffic court clerk where you were cited to appear.

Since you were 22 mph over the limit you should be eligible so long as you have not taken traffic school for another violation within the last 18 months (the 18 months is based on the violation dates). If you had been going 25 mph or more over the speed limit then traffic school would not be an option unless the judge specifically agreed to allow it, which would require a court appearance and request for traffic school.
