Do I need a tenant landlord attorney?
Anonymous2 views3 answers
I received a letter from my landlord that 1 of neighbors had bed bugs and as a precaution they wanted 2 test my apartment as well. I allowed the inspection 2 take place and my apartment was not at risk. However, the inspector apologized to me regarding the accusations. The only reason 4 the inspection was management found a bed bug in the washer of the laundry room where I washed my clothes during the week. None of the tenants on my floor received this letter and they were upset that management would lie to me about this matter. That's when I knew that I was singled out by my financial status because my neighbors incomes are higher than me. I live in a building with 13 floors filled with tenants but all they can do is appologize 4 the inconvenience
You do not need a landlord/tenant attorney. You have not been discriminated against based upon the few facts presented here. You have not experienced any damage based upon the few facts presented here. You got an apology. Move on.

I agree with Ms. Goldstein. There is no basis for any sort of legal action here. While I can understand how you might feel discriminated against for this, you were apologized to and resorting to legal action will get you nowhere. Also, be glad your building doesn't have bed bugs and you don't have to worry about that nightmare!
What remedy are you seeking here based on this behavior? In order to prevail in a lawsuit, you must prove that you suffered damages. Based on the facts provided, it does not seem as though you suffered any damages, and therefore do not need a landlord tenant attorney. However, in the event that you did suffer damages, you can use the Find a Lawyer tab on Aavo to consult with an attorney, as many offer free consultations.
