She has been married to her husband for 10 years and he is being verbal abusive to her and the kids hes very controlling and he cut up her debit card and told her she can't have the car or the kids if she leaves. the only thing is she smokes pot. so what should she do? she wants a divorce from him but he is threatening her with the kids. what does she need to do ? we can't financially help her to get a divorce or file for separation papers. PLEASE HELP Thanks Her Mother Sally

First thing first, she has to protect herself and the children. Abusers will use anything that they can to intimidate and scare their spouse. Divorce can be very expensive, but she must take action or she could have her children taken from her and given to the husband if she is not represented.
