Is it legal for a store to overcharge you repeatedly?

Theres a corner store down the street from me and they over charge and inflate prices on most all prices. The beer will say 1.29 for instance and they will charge $2 for it. And its the same with their grocery and non grocery products. The item a clearly have a ticketed price and they will charge you more than what the ticket says. Ive called them out one time when they overcharged me $6 dollars and they gave me $1 of the $6 back. What are my legal rights or who can I complain to. I can get video proof and hundreds of others experience this too.

This sounds improper. I suggest that you contact the NYS Attorney General ' s Office. There is likely a more local agency that also has jurisdiction over this.

Whole Foods was investigated by the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs earlier this year for the same type of things that you are alleging. One or more lawsuits were also brought against them. If you do a Google search along the lines of "Whole Foods New York overcharging" you will likely find a series of stories of what type of actions were brought against Whole Foods that might similarly apply to your set of facts. Good luck.

A question to be asked is whether they are charging different categories of people different prices and if so, is it done in a discriminatory way? I suggest you contact the Suffolk County office of Consumer Affairs. You can reach them at (631) 853-4600.
