Is one police report as valid as the other in a case?

If two parties call 911 one of the party is arrested (on assault charge), both fill out a police report, and have two different stories which one is more valid? If there is no evidence in the party who had the other party arrested, does the party who got arrested have a case to go all the way?

under these facts, most likely one of the parties is lying. When prosecuting someone the DA formally starts the process by filing an information. Said informations more likely than not contain police observations. The police observations will most likely favor one side (complainant) more than the other (defendant). Now if the complainant was in fact the one who lied, this will hopefully come out in the proceedings either through the complainant or the lack of observations through the officer. However, these are only my assumptions based on lack of facts here. Each case is different and my assumptions may not be applicable to your scenario. Contact an attorney for a consultation, and bring all paperwork you have especially the report(s). Best of luck

There is no more valid than the other here. Its the information in the report that is relevant. Witness testimony is evidence and that includes testimony from the victim. If the victim is believed than that could be enough. If you've been charged with a crime, you need to get a criminal defense attorney.

Police reports are hearsay and not admissible to prove your claims. They can be used to impeach a witness if their testimony is inconsistent with what he or she told the police (although the Officer might have to testify).
