Is there such thing as a federal bar number?
If so, how many digits for the bar number?

What do you mean by a bar number? If you're talking about an attorney's license number, then no.

I'm admitted to the District of Massachusetts and the 1st Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. No numbers on either of my certificates, and no ID card. Hence, I don't believe such a thing as a Federal bar number exists. Nor is there a Federal Tax Court bar number, although, for taxes there is a "PTIN" or "EFIN" number and a "CAF" number (don't ask what the acronym means).
