Is maintenance the same as repairs?

Family trust instructs I may continue to reside in trust property & solely responsible for mortgage, taxes ,insurance & maintenance. There is a gas leak & house needs to be replaced or re pipped & insists that repairs & maintenance are the thing so i am solely responsible to repair. Ther is a small studio that is rented out & generates income for trust. Its going on 4 months, already have paid $3000 to repair pipe from meter up to house. interior pipes of house still needs replacing but dont have money. What can be done, does maintenance mean repairs & if trust responsible for cost can i get reimbursed for what i have already paid?
