Roughly how much does it cost to hire an attorney on a "pending warrant" basis? i need to find out if charges were refused.

I need to find out if charges have been refused or are still pending. I was fired for theft with absolutely no evidence, they were just basing it on an assumption, and the item in question was less than $100. I didn't steal it, i just made a replica of an item our R&D department made. All resources for the product were available to me as were the machines to make it. They said they were pressing charges and also filed a police report. They announced to the entire staff after i left that they fired me for stealing, so i feel like they were just trying to look validated because everyone knew how hard i worked. Also i think they were just trying to make sure i couldn't draw unemployment since i had absolutely no infractions with them. Just trying to figure out what i should be doing..

You can check with the prosecutor yourself to see if anything has even been submitted to them. You should probably contact an attorney who deals with employment issues as well.

I'm not sure what police department was called or what court your case may be in, but if you know, you can call and check with the court. You can also check CaseNet, assuming it's not a municipality. Attorney rates vary from firm to firm, so if you want an attorney to handle everything, your best bet is to call a few different attorneys and ask them what they might charge.

You need to contact a local attorney and discuss what they would charge. This is a situation where you need someone in a position to talk face-to-face with the local prosecutor's office. What an attorney in another jurisdiction might charge is really not going to give you any guidance.... Also please NEVER relay any facts over - this is a public website and if you took that replica home - you got a potential stealing case.

Don't contact the prosecuting attorney, have a lawyer do that. It shouldn't cost you more than a couple hundred bucks to have a lawyer ask around.

You probably need to hire an attorney to discuss exactly what stealing is. Then, they can help you figure out if the Prosecutor has issued charges.

It depends on the lawyer you hire. But this does not sound like something that would be overly expensive. Probably less than $500. I suggest calling around and asking different lawyers what they charge. If you can afford it and have a good comfort level with them, then hire then so they can start making some inquiries on your behalf.
