What rights do I have as a tenant without a lease being asked to move within 60 days?

I have lived in an apartment above a business for over 10 years. The business is being sold, and we have been given the option to either move out or have rent raised by over 70% by the new owner (he is not buying the building and would be subletting the apartment to us as the former business owner did).

If you've lived at a rental unit for more than a year, then all you're entitled to is a 60 day notice when the landlord wants you to move. Andy

It sounds like you are on a month-to-month tenancy. Considering the length of your tenancy, you are only entitled to a 60 day notice to terminate. The notice provided by the landlord must be in writing.
