Lawyers on can not recommend other lawyers. How did you select the firm currently representing you? Insurance company chose them? You inquired with a local county or state bar association? Does the firm know that you are unhappy? Have you spoken with them about your feelings? Have you reached out to other law firms to see whether they would do anything differently? Assuming you are a NY resident how will plaintiff collect if you lose? Best option might include a trip to Florida, a personal meeting with your current lawyer, and several meetings with other potential substitute lawyers to discover whether you feel any better about a potential new lawyer on your side? Your case may be one where no one can give you the warm and fuzzy feeling you long for. The public often thinks we control litigation when the opposite is much more likely. Courts, judges, and rules control us more than anyone realizes. One of the few options where litigants control the outcome is mediation. It's where both sides usually hate the outcome but understand that losing would be a whole lot worse and could drag on for years or decades whereas settling at mediation provides closure. If you or your Florida counsel have not explored this option it might be more cost effective than throwing more money at a new lawyer. Good luck. In Florida (Florida is NOT NY), mediating it and settling it are almost always the way to go.
