Got points for failing to provide proof of insurance but never got pulled over

My husband got a letter in the mail stating that he received 4 points for failure to provide proof of insurance. He hasn't been pulled over and hasn't received a ticket for this. He also has current insurance that we pay a lot of money for. How do we resolve this? We are in St. Louis Missouri.

He needs to contact the Department of Revenue (573-751-4600). He should get to an operator to find out which jurisdiction sent in the points. Then, he needs to contact the clerk in that jurisdiction to determine why they sent in the points. I suppose it is possible that someone in the process keyed the wrong license number. Hopefully once he explains the story, the clerk can tell him the circumstances of how/why the points assessed against his license.

How odd! It looks like you may very well need a traffic law attorney to help. Typically, when folks are cited for no proof of insurance, nearly all prosecutors will dismiss such charges once proof of insurance is provided with a copy of a valid and applicable insurance card.
