What responsibility does legal guardian ship entail???

I have a court date coming up in regards to legal guardian of a parent. I don't know anything about this, or what it entails. I know that I can't be responsible for any of said parents debt, as I just don't have the funds. As far as I know said parent, whom I haven't seen in years has nothing, no life insurance ect.. And is in a care facility now. Thank you.

Hi: You have a fiduciary duty to the "ward" (i.e., your parent). This is a great responsibility. Below is a link to a MI guardianship handbook. This handbook should help. I've personally been a caregiver; it is very stressful. Do not hesitate to seek out organizations that can help you emotionally.
