I am the trustee for a spend thrift trust. I need to close out the trust. In order to close it, I need to change the name on a piece of property from John Doe spend thrift to John Doe.

The attorney for the trust or a real estate attorney can prepare a deed. This is not a do it yourself project. Please consult an attorney.

It's not clear why you need to close out the spendthrift trust. Generally, spendthrift trusts are meant to protect trust beneficiaries who have debt issues or perceived ill advised spending habits. Therefore, it concerns my why you would be doing away with the trust in this case. Also, the trust document termination provisions and purpose will control the disposition of the assets. Therefore, it's important for you to consult with an trust and estate planning attorney to advise you on the next step with the trust to protect you from a liability standpoint from a big potential misstep. Best wishes.

You should speak with an estate planning attorney before closing out the trust to ensure that you are following the terms of the trust instrument and that your actions will not violate your fiduciary duties. The attorney will be able to review the trust documents and advise you regarding the steps to transfer the property out of the trust. Most likely, it is just a matter of executing and recording a deed in the property records. Good luck to you.
