There are no immigration officials when you cross state lines. If you are flying you will need a valid state issued photo idenitification such as a driver's license. So you will not be arrested.

By federal statutes any undocumented alien may be arrested and detained anywhere in the US territory upon detection. Your chances to be apprehended are remote on conventional travel means like Grayhound, Amtrack, however, if you fly between the states, any airport in the country has federal officers, including ICE agents. If you are stopped by federal officers they may inquire about your immigratin status at the airport and they may arrest you.
I had several clients being arrested on an Armtrack train heading to New York from Chicago and also at the airports.
Also, note that some local sheriff's offices and police departments have agreements with the federal government and check the immigration status upon detention like in certain counties in Arizona, for instance.

Having a government issued identification is reqired. Nevertheless, I would be wary of undertaking any air travel because there are reports of the TSA referring people to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for additional screening. This has resulted in CBP detaining people.
