What will happen if my sons father can't come to our custody mod hearing?

So I'm just curious, I have a custody mod hearing coming up with my sons father and he just said he won't be able to make it because he's just starting his new job. What will happen if he doesn't appear? Will it automatically go in my favor? Or will it get rescheduled? Will he get in trouble?!?

He will likely request a continuance of the hearing, but he must first ask if you agree to it. If he does not request the continuance and does not appear, you would have the right to ask for whatever relief you are seeking. If you are not represented already, please consult with a local family law attorney for assistance.
