I live in New Jersey, My employer's office is based out of Philadelphia. I have a Payroll issue where my Employer failed to file payroll. I need to file a law suit with the help of an attorney
To answer the question as it was asked, you need an attorney who is admitted to the Bar in the state where the lawsuit will be brought. However, even an attorney who is not admitted in that State's bar can still help you, but they would need the assistance of what we call "local counsel," that is a local attorney who is licensed in that State. The out-of-state attorney would then be admitted into the other State's Bar on a temporary basis for that case only.
I would first focus on finding an appropriate employment law attorney. Once you do that, I suspect that attorney will either practice in the right jurisdiction or know someone reputable who does, or be able to work within someone who does. (Find such an attorney on ).
I concur with the recommendation of my distinguished colleague, attorney, Walter Michael Luers. You need an employment law attorney who is licensed to practice law in PA. Use 's Find a Lawyer tool to select a qualified attorney. Good luck.
