When a person owns their primary residence in Michigan, JTWRS, If the other party dies, MUST the deed holder have the residence re-titled in their name only? Thanks, in advance to all those replying. Please no replies telling me I should contact an Attorney.

No. The survivor records a certified copy of the joint title holder's death certificate. That's all that is required.

Mr. Smith is correct, take the death certificate to the county where the residence is located. Good luck, ~Katie

No, but as the sole survivor, they should create a new deed to put someone else on title if they should pass away. A lady bird deed would do the trick. Find a local attorney here on who can help.
