Can i ask my tenants what day they are moving out?

My tenants are moving out, but they have not told me what day. I am fine with them moving, it helps me, but i would like to know when so im not surprised at the last min. Is there a paper i can give them or can i just ask.
You can tell them for example that in order not to charge them till the end of the next month they need to give you notice of the exact day. Generous on your part to let them move out at short notice.
Of course you can and are entitled to know the date. If they will sign it, prepare a document in which they confirm that they will be leaving on a certain date.
You can do both. I would approach it to say that you want to schedule the carpet cleaners, painters, etc. You can also then have them sign a piece of paper which says when they will move out and approach it by saying you don't want there to be any confusion about amounts due or possible credits and you also want to secure their new address so you can return their security deposit (less any appropriate charges) within the 30 days after they move.
