Processing times for N-400 Applications vary at different USCIS offices throughout the United States. You may look up processing times for N-400 Applications at the office with jurisdiction over your place of residence at the USCIS web site at www.uscis.gov. As a general rule of thumb, most N-400 Applications are scheduled for an interview within approximately six months of the filing date. When the interviee nitice is issued, it is usually for an interview date about three to four weeks from the date of the notice.
Current published processing times for N-400s in Seattle are 9 months. You usually get notice of the interview 3-4 weeks prior to the interview. Make sure you know the voter registration deadline. Follow up with USCIS accordingly to ensure that your case is decided ahead of the deadline so you can vote.

Depending on how busy your USCIS district office is, N-400 applications are being scheduled in for the interview within 4-6 months from receipt date. An appointment letter notifying you of the scheduled interview will usually be mailed to you 3 to 6 weeks before the scheduled date.
Seattle has had a number officers detailed from other locations to help Seattle cut down the processing time. They've also been scheduling appointments on Fridays and Saturdays. It is not approximately 5 months. Assuming your case is good and approved at the time of the interview, you may be scheduled for an oath ceremony the same day.
