What should I do with a traffic ticket not showing up on the system?

Received a traffic ticket in NY for using cellphone while driving about 2 months ago and still isn't on the system. There is a typo on the ticket. My first name is under the last name column and my last name is under the first name column.

The system can take this long and the name mix-up probably wont make a difference. Cell phone tickets are 5 points and therefore can have serious economical consequences. It is probably most prudent that you retain counsel thereby increasing your chances of getting it dismissed.

Put it in the system the way they did even though its wrong. You will probably find it that way.

Eventually somebody is going to make the correction. Better to be proactive than to sit back and wait for something to happen to you.

Have them try to look it up with your name as written on the ticket, your license number, or the ticket number. You should also retain a lawyer. These tickets carry 5-points.

Recent experience is that tvb is back logged and many tickets are late in being entered. Do you have a NY license? If so you can use your id no to look up the ticket and see if they found you that way. You can try using the name variation or go directly to a tvb office and inquire. An attorney can do all the work for you. In any event don't delay as you might get or be suspended for not answering.
