Okay, I'm not a TN lawyer, but I do a lot of these. You need to call a local lawyer ASAP. Here is why. What I do in these cases, is for a nominal fee ($300) I contact the prosecutor who makes the decision whether or not to file charges, and lay all the reasons on them I can, NOT to file. Sometimes the tape recorder on the decoy/prostitute's body mike does not record the event at all, so it gets dismissed. Some states have a "john" program where you attend a class educating you as to the risks of that behavior and then they dismiss. It could be easy. But you have to get in there and act fast. Contact local criminal defense lawyers and offer the limited fee just to make a couple of phone calls and see if he can head the case off before it is filed. It'll be the best money you ever spent. It works for me all the time, but then I'm in California. Presumably, there is much more serious crime in TN than this charge, so it will be a low priority for the prosecutor. Good luck. Brian Dinday

I can't help you regarding your wife , but you should not go to jail on this case. The Nashville police use reverse stings to arrest people like you in prostitution cases. The police run ads on craigslist or the backpages . Once someone anwers the ad and goes to the hotel room , your trouble begins. Usually , these cases can be settled favorably. Often times these case can be expunged from your record , if you have not had any prior criminal convictions.

I am a criminal defense attorney in Nashville. There are a couple of possible dispositions in your case. The main thing you want is too ensure that your case is expunged so that it does not follow you for the rest of your life. As for your wife that will depend on if you can get the court appearances without her finding out or no mail being sent to your residence from attorneys or the clerk. www.TNDUIGUY.com, Ed Ryan, 615-256-7337
