What is DC law when it comes to car accident and the other driver was at fault? Thank you!

Was hit by a driver who decided to make a left turn to get on the highway  at full speed in front of me in DC. I am seeing a doctor for my lower back and neck right now. Both insurances are not being to cooperative right now. Id like to sue the driver for pure negligence and reckless driving. Do I have a case? Thank you

Yes you have a case, and you are entitled to be compensated for your medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering. I would suggest you contact a DC personal injury lawyer to further explore this. You can use the find a lawyer tool. I would also suggest you look for other accolades like recognition by Washingtonian Magazine, and an AV rating by Martindale Hubble. The first consultation is always free, and you do not pay a fee unless you win, so there is no risk in making this call. Good luck.

Yes, you have a case. Lawyers handle these cases on a contingent fee basis, meaning you do not pay fees out of pocket, only a percentage of the money recovered for you. DC has some restrictions on claiming no-fault personal injury (PIP) benefits under your own insurance policy, and you should consult with a lawyer before making a PIP claim or you may jeopardize your claim against the other driver. Don't be in a rush to settle your claim, and do not speak with the other driver's insurance adjuster about your injuries. Hire a lawyer if you want to protect yourself and maximize your recovery.

As in most jurisdictions, if you sustained an injury due to the negligence of another motorist, you are entitled to make a claim for all of your harms and losses. DC does have some quirky law that could limit your ability to make a claim (the somewhat unique DC PIP statute, which requires you to make an election within a certain amount of time), which should be discussed with an experienced attorney. Also, depending who owned the vehicle or employed the other driver, there may be certain notice provisions that apply, So do not hesitate, and consult with a lawyer! You can use 's excellent lawyer finder tool to locate someone to help you. good luck!
