Will getting a lawyer make the process quicker

I am a permanent resident and I filed a f3 visa for my daughter who is in Jamaica from 2006. I got a priority date for march 2008, why is it taking so long. I was told the process hasn't started yet, and if I put a lawyer on the case will it start

If you have a greencard, it is not possible to file a Family-3 petition .. that can only be filed by a US citizen. Perhaps you meant Family-2B Have you considered becoming a US citizen? Although we can't change the priority date, sometimes we can help you get better organized ... and evaluate the possible benefit of becoming a US citizen. Many of us do this via Skype.

An attorney can help to avoid unnecessary delays due to missing documentation etc. I recommend you talk to an attorney about your case and provide more information.
