ICE has discretion who to detain and/or place in removal proceedings. The current police is to apprehend and detain the most dangerous criminals. The application to renew your green card may be denied and you may be referred to the immigration court for removal proceedings.

A domestic violence conviction renders your deportable, but not inadmissible. See an experienced immigration attorney. http://www.attorneyqna.com/legal-guides/ugc/winning-your-case-in-immigration-court
