Should I seek the help of an attorney

Due to hospital admin error, 1) I did not receive necessary info before my surgery, including an important call from the anesthesiologist, 2) my personal medical records were shared with an unauthorized party and 3) my current insurance was not notified of the procedure. When I tried to correct false information in their system, I was told I would be better off trying to use my former insurance; my understanding is that I was encouraged to commit insurance fraud. I wrote to the hospital to complain and received apologies from the doctor, the admin staff of the clinic and the hospital president, all assuring me that the problems had been corrected. Hospitals are generally large bureaucracies and one hand does not necessarily know what the other hand is doing. You need to have a cool calm rational discussion with someone in hospital administration to figure out an action plan. In my own humble opinion, admittedly not knowing all of the facts I do not think this situation merits a law suit, but I think that after a rational discussion and investigation you may be able to get to the bottom of this.
Good luck with it.
This answer is provided for informational purposes only. Actual legal advice can only be provided in an office consultation by an attorney licensed in your jurisdiction, with experience in the area of law in which your concern lies.
You will probably need an attorney eventially. Until someone asks you to pay money you probably do not need an attorney. Remember you need an attorney if someone wants money from you or if you have damages as a direct result of someone's negligence.
I would also recommend that you contact the two involved insurance companies. They actually have an incentive to see that the proper information is given and that the right company is billed.
