I am seperated with my wife & daughter for almost 15 years. They live in New Mexico and i am here in Nashville, TN. I have been supporting my daughter by sending money through her mom. Now she is already 18 she still demands for money and reasons out that she is not yet finish with high school so i need to send money. i try to send some just so i can help her and bcoz i am also trying to meet ends on my side, i have a lot of debts and bills too. Her mom was a drug addict and the tablet that i gave her as a gift she pawn it. I love my daiughter but i do not want to make her lazy and depend on the money i send her. I want her to be independent and not to be lazy. Bcoz if i ask her why she is not able to finish high school earlier bcoz she is left behind, she is not able to find a job too, they (her mom and my daughter) always has a lot of reasons.

You have some pronoun reference issues that make your paragraph confusing. Who is demanding you send the money, mom or the daughter? Is there a court order for child support? (that order would direct money go to the mom). If there is a court order for child support (the divorce decree, parenting plan etc.) just go read it. It is fairly standard that child support orders say that support continues to either the minor's 18th birthday or when the minor graduates or otherwise stop attending secondary school (high school)--WHICHEVER IS LATER. In the last decade or so, child support is now frequently being extended through the college years. If there is no court order for child support or any other court order, I suppose you can stop paying whenever you want. If there is a court order, go read it. If you are still unclear, take the order and consult with an attorney in NM to review your options. Lastly, I am updating the practice area designation of this question, it is not an education law question, but more a child support question.
