Academic Probation is a school related status and doesn't really tell much about how your status is reported on SEVIS, the Student and Exchange Visitor system tracked by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) the police of immigration. You are right to be worried about international travel, because doing it wrong can have irreversible consequences and at the very minimum cause a lot of anxiety. First, you need to speak with the DSO (Designated School Official) at your old school and find out how your SEVIS status is reported. Second, you need to advise your old school that you have enrolled in a new program at another University. Third, you need to advise the new school of the same. There is a defined protocol for ensuring the SEVIS database is updated by the old school and new school to ensure that you won't have any problems on reentry. You must err on the side of caution, and if the travel is not absolutely critical then use that time to ensure your immigration status is in order first! Ensure your status is correctly reported on the servis system and that both schools fulfill their obligations to your before you leave the US. Most student issues can be dealt with by the DSO. That way there is no reason to be apprehensive on your return. Goodluck.
