I work for the department of corrections in the state of Montana. I was recently on a trip where I racked up 31 hours of overtime. Paychecks were delivered today and I was not paid for even a single hour of that OT. Payroll is saying that since the time wasn't submitted in time (I have no power to submit my own hours) that they will have to do a "correction" and pay me all of that OT 2 weeks from now on my next paycheck. How is this legal? I'm supposed to get taxed on this OT and whatever OT I make in this pay period?! What are my options?

Contact the Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Unit at (406) 444-6543 to file a complaint. They usually get unpaid wages pretty quickly. The website is http://erd.dli.mt.gov/labor-standards/wage-and-hour-payment-act. Good luck!
