I filed for divorce from my wife in White Plains, she may or may not represent herself. If she does get an attorney, am I responsible for any of her legal fees. ???

It is possible that you will have to pay all or some of her attorney fees. The Judge will look at the relative financial conditions of both sides.

It really depends, if one spouse is deemed the monied spouse, then the court may make a determination that the monied spouse is responsible to pay the legal fees for the other side. Please speak to your attorney for guidance. If you don't have one, please hire one to represent you in this battle. The Westchester Matrimonial Division appreciates when you have an attorney representing you.

It depends - are you the spouse with all the money? If so, probably...

This is largely governed by the disparity of income - if you may 6-figures & your income is more than twice your wife's income, payment of some of her counsel fees is likely. That said, the Court also considers whether you're paying maintenance (i.e., alimony) and/or child support - if the subtraction of same from your income & the addition of same to hers results in the disparity of income being substantially less than 2-times, then counsel fees become unlikely. It depends on your respective incomes and assets but generally the monied titled spouse is responsible ultimately for the non monied spouse's counsel and expert fees. DRL Section 237.
