What to do about driving while license suspended charge?

Business 5 views 4 answers
I was pulled over in 2015-2016 timeframe. I did not have a driver's license but the cop let me go and never have me a ticket. Fast forward to 2017 and me trying to get my license, I'm being held up by a driving while license suspended charge that I never knew I had due to being let go with no ticket. I also missed the court date cause I never got a ticket. What should I do sorry of paying the fine cause I would like to get my license back now and now have it suspended by paying the charge first?

I think hiring an experienced traffic lawyer as soon as possible would benefit you far above trying to pay or negotiate the matter yourself. Either based on your local contacts, or using 's "Find a Lawyer" feature, find a good traffic lawyer who handles traffic citations in the county where your matter is currently pending. Additionally, you might also consider looking up Mary Guy Mendini on ; she is based in Durham, but she is quite familiar with traffic court in a number of counties, including many in the Piedmont. Hopefully you can work something out in your favor very shortly. Best wishes in this.

You'll need to hire an attorney in the county that you were pulled over to see what happened. Until that is resolved, you won't be able to get a license from the DMV.

You will need to take care of the ticket that is outstanding with a failure to appear. In order to do so, contact an attorney who handles license issues and traffic matters in that county. It will be important to determine why your license was suspended initially. If you are able to resolve the issue for which your license was originally suspended and become eligible to get your license but for the outstanding failure to appear, an attorney may be able to request a prayer for judgment continued on the driving while revoked charge; this should prevent any further suspension. On the other hand, if you just plead guilty to the charge, your license may be suspended for up to three years, depending on if you have had prior driving while license revoked charges.
