Child abuse

Business 2 views 2 answers
My 11 year old son has told both myself and a child counselor he is seeing that my ex instructed him to lie to the counselor and everyone else about what goes on at me ex's house. He said he was told "what happens here, stays here and we solve our problems ourselves." This same Dr sent an ex-parte letter to the judge in our custody case after speaking with my son and asked the judge NOT to change custody or the schedule because my son told him everything "was fine". Turns mt son was lieing because he was afraid of my ex's reaction if the schedule was to change. Isn't this considered child abuse? To tell (a then 9 year old) child to lie in order to cover up the abuse that goes on.

I don't know that what you've described rises to the level of child abuse. I would need to know more information. You should consult with a family law attorey. THESE COMMENTS ARE NOT LEGAL ADVICE. I don't believe that this describes child abuse. As for the "Dr", I am not sure what investigation he/she has done, but those people are supposed to be trained to determine whether a child has been "coached" to say certain things in the evaluation. Your question does not say what you believe the abuse is with respect to the events at the house. So, I can't tell. I don't know whether you have an attorney or whether you are pro se. I don't know if the case has been finalized. It might be a good idea to use the services of a parenting coordinator, as those people are trained to handle high-conflict matters. This answer is not to be construed as legal advice or as creating an attorney-client relationship. To obtain legal advice, you should consult an attorney and bring with you all of the documents you have pertaining to this situation.
