Has my medical privacy been violated by my employer?

Business 3 views 5 answers
I went to the doctor for a medical condition, my doctor ordered test, follow up appointment and gave me the rest of the week off with a doctor's statement. I gave the original copy to my supervisor and kept the copy. I went to my follow-up appointment a day and a half later and was informed by my doctor that my employer had called requesting my diagnosis and demanded that they call her, which they refused.

If they asked and didn't get an answer, your privacy has not been violated.

I agree that if no information was conveyed there was no violation, but you may want to address with your employer through the human resources department.

It sounds like your doctor's office did not disclose anything to your employer, so it appears your privacy has been protected.
