Bank Levy for arrears in child support
Anonymous1 views2 answers
If a personal bank account has been levied for past due child support can a corporate account on which the individual a signer also be levied? The corporation is a C corp
If the individual signer on the corporate account uses the corporate account to keep assets from becoming personal assets that would otherwise be levied, or if the individual signer uses the corporate account for personal uses or otherwise comingles business and personal funds, then the court can pierce the corporate veil in order to ensure that the individual's child is supported.
Yes, there are circumstances which would allow a corporate account to be levied.
I would encourage you to consult with an attorney and make sure to observe the corporate formalities in how you use your corporate accounts.
Good luck,
