I have 9 driving infractions and have not able to get my license. i tried to make payments through the Alliance debt collection but could not afford the payment they had set. Iam on disability SSI and have limited income I need to drive to get to my doctors appointments to pick up my perscriptions. Iam not a habitual driver it started off by getting a ticket driving to fast in a school zone and could not pay the ticket whiich i then repeatedly was sited for no insurance and no drivers license. With all the interested attached to the original fine over the years i cannnot possibly pay the fines off. is there an amnesty program or any program that can help me get my license back?

Call each court that you have a ticket in and see if they have some type of re-licensing program. I know many courts that do. The court may reduce your fines and take them out of collections. Look into getting a restricted license as well. http://www.dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/orl.html

Each court has to be dealt with separately, unless they have sent your ticket to the same collection agency. In your case, you have to deal with each court so you can only hope that most of your tickets come from the same court. In addition, it is no excuse that you kept getting tickets for no insurance and driving without a license I have never seen a car being driven with a big sign that says the driver has no insurance or license. You were stopped for some traffic offense and the officer only cited you for the most serious charges that applied. He could have charged you for the reason he stopped you, usually speeding in my experience. When you talk to the court you may be able to get them to recall the interest amount but not likely the charge itself unless you can show proof of insurance. That ticket, by itself, is over $500 so if you didn't appear for the charge you have a debt that exceeds $4,500 in just no insurance charges.
