Can a person sue an eye doctor for cataract surgery that went bad

I had cataract surgery on March 15, 2017. Prior to surgery I could see fine but my doctor told me that I did have cataracts. He told me it would be a good idea to have them done now since cataracts would only get worse with time. The doctor used a technical lens for my right eye and a standard lens for the left one. The technical lens was suppose to give me even better vision in the right eye. .I have macular degeneration in the left eye so a technical lens would not have made a difference. My vision actually was worse after the lens placement. I now have blurred distance vision which I never ever had before and will now need glasses to correct it. I never wore glasses before the operation. The doctor did say that his measurement for the lens was a bit off. I wrote him a letter acknowledging how unhappy I was. He understood, apologized, but said there was nothing that could be done. the lens could not be removed removed.

I recommend speaking with an experienced medical malpractice attorney. He or she can review what happened and let you know if it is worth proceeding.
