An ex-boyfriend has repeatedly emailed threatening to publish nude photos of me.

An ex-boyfriend has repeatedly sent me emails and texts threatening to call my parents and friends with lies about me. He recently sent an email and said he will publish all nude photos of me. He has threatened suicide if I don't talk to him. I have several emails to prove these things. What can I do to protect myself? Restraining order? Sue for defamation of character? Can I send him an email to tell him his emails will now be blocked and let him know what action I will take if it continues? Help!

You need to contact law enforcement. This is extortion. It is also harassment. You need all original photos returned to you, not just an assurance that he will destroy them. If you do not have him arrested, this will continue. It is not likely that pursuing this by a lawsuit will be effective, unless he is wealthy.
