What can be done about a county jail not giving my husband his medications for severe high blood pressure?

My husband was arrested in Illinois on 5/10/17 and extradited to Kentucky on 5/11/17.At the time of his arrest his blood pressure medications was taken with him he received his doses as directed while he was in the jail in Illinois. He has now been in the jail in Kentucky 3&1/2 days and even though his medications were taken with him when he was extradited he has not received it at all. I have called the jail and was told by an employee to leave my name and number and the shift supervisor would call me back but I have not gotten a returned call. I understand to them he is just some "criminal" but he is my husband and I don't want something bad to happen due to their medical neglect. High blood pressure can cause strokes or heart attacks which runs in his family. How can they know that all those missed doses aren't causing small damage that can lead up to something fatal? Can someone please give me some advise or tgive me referrals of who to call in Kentucky?

There may be a civil rights claim. However, your husband would have to follow the PLRA which is the prison litigation reform act, and exhaust his administrative appeals. So, your husband has to file grievances at the jail and he must appeal them all the way to the head jailer/warden. Really, your husband is the person being harmed so he must complain here. Not you. You can also contact a civil rights attorney if you need more advice.

I agree with my colleague. Unfortunately, the problem you describe is far from unusual. There are few great answers and the appeals described can take time.
