I purchased a vehicle in 2012 had major engine problems a co worker said he would help me out and took the vehicle to fix slowly as i was waiting on my income tax .He or where he took it had it for a few months and i was over it so I had it towed and junked it.I turned in my plates done..But just applied for a job and found a few citations from 2012 that i never had a clue about and my license has been suspended all this time without my knowledge The tickets now in colection for years and close to $1600. How do I deal with this ?? I honestly never knew about any of this til Sept 2016 I want to clear it up but im sure these tickets or whatever were not originally that much money. Can u steer me to someway to handle this. The tickets were in Miami somewhere.Thank you

You have 3 choices: 1) Pay them (which may carry points and earn you a suspension); 2) Ignore them (which guarantees that your licenses will remain suspended); or 3) Hire a 305 lawyer to try to get them back in front of a Judge and hopefully dismissed. There's not much more to say. Wishing you luck and hoping that I have been helpful in answering your question.

Contact a local traffic attorney to see if these citations can be reset. Do not just pay them without trying to get the reset. If they are tickets that were never addressed and you just pay them now - you could windup with a point suspension. If they are just court costs, perhaps you can set a payment plan with the county. Wishing you good luck.

Sometimes, a local traffic ticket lawyer can get these citations back on the court's docket. When and if that happens, maybe that lawyer can beat some of the charges. That, in turn, will reduce the amount of money you owe. Or, this attorney may be able to arrange some sort of payment plan with the judge who oversees the citation cases, in which the clerk will be ordered to lift the DL suspension pending payment of the citations over the next 6 months or so (for example). Not all counties do these sorts of things, and we have 67 counties in Florida, so you're going to need to consult with an attorney in Miami to resolve this. But the good news is, you've got a shot at getting your license back so long as you do it under the supervision of an attorney (because, an attorney will be able to tell you whether or not the payment of all these citations is just going to resuspend your license, and you don't want that after paying all that money!). Good Luck!
