Consult with local asset protection/bankruptcy counsel to see if the debt is dischargeable.

You want to consult a bankruptcy attorney sooner rather than later. If the lien is perfected against an asset it could prove difficult to remove. A bankruptcy attorney will review you financial situation and determine if your assets would be protected in bankruptcy or recommend a chapter 13 where you pay some of the debt back over a period of time and discharge the rest. Find a local bankruptcy attorney ASAP. Good luck.

There is insufficient information in your question to formulate an answer. Best to take whatever papers you have to a qualified bankruptcy attorney in your area.

It isn't clear if bankruptcy can help you because of the lack of information. When I heard the term "restitution", my immediate reaction is to think "criminal restitution" and that would survive a bankruptcy. On the other hand, you might be referring to something else that CAN be covered by bankruptcy. You need a consultation with a local bankruptcy attorney ASAP to get more thorough information.

It depends to some degree on what the restitution was for but you'll need to see a BK attorney as all of the others have said.
