In my workplace,( one man, 15 women office ) I am an affectionate person. That could be a hugs, I might place my hand on a shoulder, or give a little 'back scratch' to my closer co-workers. None on them have ever complained. This behavior, is not just done by me. My employer informed me that he doesn't approve of that behavior and I should keep my hands to myself. In a staff meeting the next day, the HR manager begins to give me hell about it because I told another employee what had happened. (This is the slander part) In front of my peers, she said "if you are Gay you can take that some place else. I am married with 2 children, in my eyes this way very hard to tolerate to she accused of being something I am not. She has done this to another employee. Do I have a case?

Slander is difficult to sue for. You can check with attorneys in your town but I doubt if anyone will be interested. If one is called a "thief" then that is more clearly slander.
